A person had to buy one product to make a family tree, another for home design and remodeling, and yet another for greeting cards and calendars; Visio Home 3.0 does it all. It’s a tool to add to your list of household essentials, alongside your word processor and personal finance software. 

Shapeware Corp., then leading drawing and diagramming software developer pioneered the drawing and diagramming market with the release of Visio 1.0 in November 1992. Since then it added drag and drop drawing products designed for business, technical and home users.

Microsoft acquired Visio Corporation in 2000. Enterprise Network Tools, an add-on product enabling automated network and directory services diagramming, and Visio Network Center, a website where users could locate the latest network documentation content and exact-replica network equipment shapes from 500 leading manufacturers, were released alongside v. 10.0 [MS Visio 2002].
